When I started my business 10 years ago, I had tons of energy and ideas to kick things off. One thing I was absolutely sure about: I was going to be wildly successful (hello, confidence! 😅). But how I’d get there? I hadn’t thought that part through. I had no strategy.
A year later, after hitting a wall hard, I had learned 3 crucial lessons:
✨ Having too LITTLE to do is incredibly stressful.
✨ Having too MUCH to do is just as overwhelming.
✨ Selling hours is UNSUSTAINABLE in the long run (because there are only 24 hours in a day).
During my long recovery, I made a decision: I was going to crack the code for profitability – sustainably. There had to be a smarter way to run a business. A way that combines the incredible freedom of being self-employed with the predictability of a salaried job. Since then, I’ve developed my own sustainable business model.
Et voila!
Here are my 5 sustainability tips for you (so you can avoid my mistakes):
🌱 Target a well-defined audience whose needs you understand deeply (and if not, do research to gain that understanding).
🌱 Sell valuable solutions that solve a concrete problem for that audience.
🌱 Don’t sell your time (hours) – it’s unsustainable in the long term.
🌱 Automate as much as possible to save time and focus on what truly impacts your income.
🌱 Schedule regular inspiration and recovery time to recharge your energy.
Where are you at today? Do you have a solid strategy that’s moving your business forward?
